THOUGHT IT WOULD BE TORTUROUS
by admin on Jan.07, 2010, under Uncategorized
Lisa and I spent 1 1/2 hours in a Roundtable Pizza for a meeting. When my friend said that was the preferred place to meet, I thought he was crazy! He knows we’re fasting (liquid phase) and he even goes to our church! I suggested Starbucks instead but that didn’t happen.
Oh yeah. That just could be my re-entry meal. But, I’m proud to say that I didn’t give in and that I’m food free! So proud of myself.
I am Master over my Flesh!

Thanks Pastor Mike for the encouragement! Our family is doing well also
My reading today brought me to
Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”
How appropriate! 2 days into our fast, My husband got good news about his job that we have waited for for 4 years! Praise God~ He is good~ all the time!

Wow…very tough indeed. I had a meeting today where they were grilling burgers and saugage links. UGHH, why today! I will be the first to admit that I did not make it this far last year. I just struggle with the liguid part of the fast. While today was a struggle at times, right now I am feeling fine. I will say, however, that at 12:01am, Sunday morning, I will be putting something in my stomache before going to bed. How good the food from the Daniel fast will taste now, huh! My family has already been blessed during this fast. Praise the Lord!

What does next year’s fast look like? I assume it will start on or around January 3, 2011, but how long? Since the first year was 5 days, last year was 7 days & this year was 10 days, do you think next year will be 15 days? I will mark my calendar.
“And Samuel spoke unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the Lord with all your hearts, thou put away the foreign gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.” I Sam. 7:3
We’re almost there! “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Phil. 4:13 If what we are doing is for the Lord, then He will pull us through. Looking forward to biting into a Hot Pastrami Sandwich on January 13!
God bless,
Donnette

So a “newbie faster” here. Didn’t even put the slip in the basket because I had so little confidence that I would be able to do it. Initially just figured I would *try* the Daniel fast and had such an amazing torrent of positive “co-incidences” that I went for the liquid fast, too. It’s Saturday evening and just made lasagna alfredo and pizza burgers for my kids – but stuck through ALL THREE DAYS of the liquid fast myself. {But I am really thinking the Daniel fast looks YUMMY now.
} Wow, when God wants to show His power, He can really get down and dirty (and between me and the cheese! Didn’t think ANYONE could do THAT!!)

Jen…wow, that is an awesome testimony! Yes, the Lord is amazing. I am happy to hear that your experimental fast has gone better than expected. Last year was my first try at a fast more than 24 hours and let me tell you, I was a crying baby the whole time and never finished. Good job to you doing it while having to feed children, that is the hardest part.

Mike,
Reading through Genisis 19 reminds me of a possible “sign” of the coming rapture (or at least of the coming tribulation). Sodom & Gamorrah was destroyed by God at God said that no establishment of any kind would exist in its place until the end times (my words). It is believed the Sadam Huisain was working on some kind of satan worship temple on the site. Not sure on the facts, I would have to re-research it, as it has been a while since I studied it in school.

Mike,
Sorry, was thinking of ancient Babylon. Here is a link talking a little of it.

Mike, Huge earthquake in Haiti…ironic that it happened right after preaching about it on Sunday. Come Lord Jesus!

So here’s the “highlight reel” from my fasting experience:
1. The passages in the Bible on the first day of the fast – regarding particular people or groups of people I have been praying for – that specifically directed me on how to feel and react.
2. The out-of-the-blue resolution to the hatred I’d had toward a family member pretty much my whole life on the last day of the liquid fast.
3. The day after the fast, my husband’s deployment was cut short and he LEFT Iraq – for good.
By no means was this the entire list of blessings!
After each of these, I pictured God looking down on me with a quirky grin, saying, “You thought THAT was good? Wait ’til you see what I do NEXT…”
